Privacy Policy

The short version: FileCab collects nothing. Here's the long version anyway.

Last updated: April 26, 2026

The plain-English summary: FileCab operates entirely on your local machine. It does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data, file contents, or usage information. App settings and configurations are stored locally on your device and never leave it. No account is required. No internet connection is needed to use the app. The only network activity is a periodic update check against the GitHub Releases API. You can choose to have updates installed automatically or manage them manually.

Who we are

FileCab is developed and maintained by Deha Resources LLC. We build web, mobile, and desktop applications. Our contact email is support@deharesources.com.

What data we collect

Nothing. FileCab does not collect any data of any kind. Specifically, we do not collect:

  • Names, email addresses, or any personal identifiers
  • File names, file contents, or directory structures from your machine
  • Usage analytics, crash reports, or telemetry
  • IP addresses or device identifiers
  • Rule configurations, settings, or preferences
  • Any behavioral or interaction data

All data generated by FileCab (rule configurations, session journals, undo logs, settings) is stored exclusively on your local machine in your user data directory. We have no access to it.

Network activity

FileCab does not require an internet connection to function. The only network request is an update check, which works as follows:

  • FileCab periodically checks for available updates. These requests contain no identifying information beyond a standard HTTP header.
  • If you prefer to manage updates manually, you can disable automatic updates in Settings → General. You will still be notified when a new version is available, but FileCab will not install it without your action.

No other network requests are made by FileCab under any circumstances.

What stays on your machine

FileCab stores the following data locally, in your OS user data directory, which varies by platform:

  • Rule configurations: your custom sorting rules, stored as a local database file
  • Session journals: a log of file operations for undo functionality
  • App settings: preferences such as conflict strategy, dry-run defaults, and notification preferences
  • Watched folders: a list of folders registered for real-time monitoring
  • Excluded directories: folders designated to be ignored during organization and monitoring

All of these files are stored locally on your machine and are never transmitted externally. They can be removed by deleting the application support folder directly.

Bug reports and support emails

If you choose to contact us via the bug report form or email, you are voluntarily sharing information with us. This may include:

  • Your email address (if provided)
  • A description of the issue
  • Exported rule sets or configuration details you choose to share
  • Your OS version and FileCab version

We use this information solely to diagnose and resolve the issue you reported. We do not store it in any database, share it with third parties, or use it for marketing of any kind. Emails are handled through standard email providers subject to their own privacy policies.

Third-party services

FileCab does not integrate with, send data to, or depend on any third-party analytics, advertising, crash reporting, or data collection services.

FileCab is distributed via GitHub Releases. When you download FileCab, you interact with GitHub's infrastructure, which is subject to GitHub's Privacy Policy.

Children's privacy

FileCab does not knowingly collect information from children under the age of 13. As we collect no data from anyone, this applies equally to all users.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, note the change in the GitHub Releases changelog. Continued use of the application after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

Given that we collect no data, we anticipate this policy will change rarely, if ever.
